Rangers staff jet out on Thomas Kristensen transfer mission as James Sands replacement lined up

Rangers have sent scouts to watch Aarhus central defender Thomas Kristensen as Michael Beale eyes up a replacement for James Sands, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

Sands was deemed surplus to requirements at Ibrox, having sat out of action for most of Beale’s tenure and the Light Blues decided to terminate his loan deal last month.

However, the Gers are already scouting potential replacements and The Sun revealed on 9 March that the Gers sent officials to scout AGF defender Kristensen ahead of a potential transfer this summer.

The Scottish Daily Mail [10 March, page 78] adds that Kristensen has been scouted extensively in recent weeks, and with Filip Helander out of contract this summer, and with the departure of Sands, Beale is looking to recruit a young centre-half.

Future prospect

The Gers have certainly been doing their homework within their recruitment team and replacing Sands and Helander with Kristensen certainly seems like a sensible and promising move.

Beale will be looking to overhaul his squad this summer, and the Gers fans will of course be seeing plenty of young talents join the squad as the former QPR boss looks to refresh his squad with vibrant, youthful and exciting talents.

Rangers

Securing Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin in January was just the start of this exciting revamp, and Kristensen looks like the ideal move for the Gers to make especially with the centre of defence needing some addressing.

Connor Goldson is in his 30s already, Helander is out of contract at the end of the season, John Souttar’s fitness has been a problem throughout his entire career and Leon King is still young and improving too.

Kristensen is believed to be 6ft 6, solid in the air and adept with the ball at his feet, possessing the hallmarks of a Beale defender. Get it done.
