Rangers fans ‘out of order’ after scenes at Easter Road in last 48 hours – pundit

We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox

Tam McManus has slammed Rangers fans who chanted and booed throughout Hibernian’s tributes to late owner Ron Gordon at Easter Road on Wednesday night.

Ahead of the Gers’ 4-1 win in the capital, Hibs remembered Gordon, who died last month after a battle with cancer.

However, the tributes were marred by chanting and boos from the away end while similar scenes were also on display at Hampden Park in a minute’s applause to honour Gordon.

Rangers

McManus is furious with the Light Blues fans for trying to disrupt Hibs’ tributes to Gordon but he’s thankful that fans of his former club were able to drown them out on the most part.

Speaking to Ibrox News, McManus said: “I thought it was very poor. I spoke about it last week after the Viaplay Cup final with Celtic.

Listen, you’re paying respect to someone who’s passed away from cancer.

Everyone is affected by it and you’re booing it. It’s out of order.

Rangers

Thankfully, you could only hear Hibs fans singing, they were singing loud and drowned the boos out from the Rangers end.

If you have any decency about you, you either clap or you stay silent.

You don’t boo someone that’s passed away.

I thought it was poor but I was at the game myself and thankfully it was mostly drowned out by the Hibs fans.”

Hibs-mad author Kevin Williamson took to Twitter on Wednesday night to call away fans “scum” after he witnessed the scenes live at Easter Road.

Next up for the Gers is a Scottish Cup showdown with Raith Rovers at Ibrox on Sunday (12 March)

Clashes with Motherwell and Dundee United follow before a showdown with Celtic at Parkhead on 8 April.

In other Rangers news, more issues could emerge in the Ibrox boardroom over a cash injection.
