BBC pundit: Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay would do well at Rangers, not good enough for Celtic

Paul Parker believes that Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay would be a good signing for Rangers but not for Celtic.

Speaking to My Betting Sites, the BBC pundit said he will not player regularly for the defending SPFL champions, but is likely to get game time at Ibrox.

Parker believes that he cannot stay at Old Trafford as his career is stagnating due to the lack of appearances.

Rangers

He said, “Scott McTominay has to move away from Man United in the summer. He wants to stay in the Premier League but it’s going to be tough for him to find a new club. He is not good enough to play for a top side and the smaller clubs can´t pay his wages.

“I think it could be a possibility for him to go to Rangers. He is not good enough to play for Celtic. There is no way he would be able to play regularly for Celtic in the way they play. He will have a better chance of playing if he moves to Rangers.

“But of course he can’t continue at Man United. Maybe he feels confident just sitting on the bench but that is a lack of ambition.

“But it’s a big decision for him to leave Man United. But he has to do it because right now he is also playing jeopardy with his spot in the national team. He can be a sub for Man United but if he got anything about himself he wants to play as many games as possible.”

Not needed

If Rangers are to get as good and even better than Celtic, they cannot sign players that won’t be good enough for their arch rivals.

They’ve got to improve their scouting and employ the right people in positions of power if they are to right the wrongs from the past.

The current board is shambolic and there’s no chance of Gers becoming a real force under them.

Rangers

McTominay is decent and someone with over 100 Premier League games’ experience, but we do not think he’s the answer to the club’s problems and with Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell, two important midfield signings have been made.

If Malik Tillman is signed permanently, that’s another good move and McTominay would perhaps be a squad player at Ibrox as he’s not the most technical of players.

He is a good ball winner but is not ideal at keeping possession and he does not fit the profile for the sort of player needed to challenge for the title.

In other Rangers news, a pundit with insider information at Ibrox has shared one condition that will make Douglas Park leave the club.
