Chris Jack predicts ‘optimistic future’ at Rangers as Michael Beale works on Plan B

The Herald journalist Chris Jack has predicted an “optimistic future” at Rangers as Michael Beale looks to evolve the teams attack with his plan B.

Beale shared that Rangers have been working on something behind the scenes in the terms of how he wants the team to play and the energy they give.

Jack confessed that the relentless run of Scottish Premiership form from Beale and Rangers hasn’t been enough to cut the gap on Celtic as of yet.

“Rangers have dropped just two league points on Beale’s watch but their relentless run of form has not been enough to see them reduce the deficit to Old Firm rivals Celtic in the top flight title race,” as quoted by The Herald. (9 March)

“There have been reasons to be optimistic for the future, though, and the Ibrox boss is pleased with the progress that has been made overall as January signings Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin have made their mark on the side.”

Beale said: “We have been working on something else behind the scenes in terms of the way we want to play and the energy we want up the pitch and a different shape,”

“Although we are working on other things behind the scenes, at the moment what we are actually doing is very good anyway.”

Fantastic.

The dominant display against Hibernian on 8 March was the perfect way for Beale and Rangers to shush their critics and it’s arguably the best performance the team have put in under him.

Beale stuck with the same starting XI that beat Kilmarnock at the weekend, a move which seemed to pay dividends for the Englishman.

That means the Gers have only dropped two points under Beale in the Scottish Premiership, phenomenal stuff if you actually think about it.

Rangers look ready to pounce if Celtic ever do drop any amount of points, an unlikely scenario but one that could very well happen in the weird and wonderful world of football.

Nevertheless, it’s next season that will be the true test of Beale and his Rangers side, with a summer transfer window under his belt and the dead weight of the squad ousted.

With the Scottish Cup still very-much to play for, however, Beale will be hoping to finish this season with a flourish, something the Hibernian performance suggests they will do.
