Rangers news as Kemar Roofe injuries could see him leave Ibrox for good

Kemar Roofe could be set for the Rangers exit door as Michael Beale looks to revamp his squad with injury issues yet to disappear, according to The Gleaner.

The report claims that Roofe is set to see a specialist over his ongoing calf injury in a season which has seen the forward spend most of his time on the sidelines.

And it’s this very injury record that could be the reason Roofe is placed on the Ibrox chopping board with a new deal by no means a certainty beyond 2024.

“Reggae Boy Kemar Roofe, who has had an injury-plagued season at Scottish Premiership side Rangers, is to see a specialist over a troublesome calf problem that will not clear up,” as quoted by The Gleaner. (6 March)

“And with Beale planning a squad revamp, it is believed Roofe’s injury record could count against him when it comes to making a decision on a new deal.”

Time running out.

Time is running out for Roofe to reignite his Rangers career with his contract at Ibrox coming to an end in the summer of 2024.

No one is denying that Roofe is a prime asset to this Gers squad when he’s fit and firing but unfortunately, he can’t be relied on week in and week out.

Roofe is now also 30 years old and whilst this isn’t a massive reason to get rid of him in the summer, his injury record certainly is.

It’s unlikely due to his age that he’ll be getting fitter anytime soon and this may leave Beale with little other option than to offload the forward.

With Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent also on their way out as things stand with no new contract agreed, the summer of 2024 could see a completely new-look forward line.

Roofe has been out of action for Rangers for close to 120 days this season and this simply isn’t good enough in a squad that needs to be challenging for trophies.
