Jim White mocked by Rod Stewart in Rangers-Celtic jibe live on talkSPORT
Rod Stewart labelled Jim White a “bluenose” live on talkSPORT whilst talking about Celtic’s Scottish League Cup win over Rangers.
Ange Postecoglou’s side proved too strong for the Gers to secure their 21st League Cup title and close the gap to Rangers’ overall record.
Whilst discussing the match, Stewart felt Rangers were competitive in the fixture at Hampden but were wasteful in front of goal.

“Let me tell you, I know you’re a bluenose and I watched the game back in the cold light of day and you were in it. There were a couple of chances Rangers had and you know Old Firm games can turn on a dime but you missed them,” said Stewart (live on talkSPORT quoted by the Daily Record, 3 March).
Chasm
Stewart’s comments are too generous. At no point were Rangers in that final. Yes, they scored a scrappy goal and had a couple of bright moments, but on the whole, Celtic were by far the dominant force. If Michael Beale’s side wish to compete regularly with their Old Firm foes then they must invest more astutely in the summer.
There are potentially ten or twelve players who could leave Ibrox at the end of the season. This could allow Beale to trim his squad down and also add three or four quality additions. Quality is the buzzword here. Postecoglou’s side have bundles of quality all over the pitch and on the bench.

As for Rangers, there are three or four areas of the pitch where strength in depth is severely lacking. It goes without saying, but this summer is absolutely massive. There’s an opportunity for Rangers to start afresh and conduct major squad surgery.
In other Rangers news, the club have pulled off a major transfer coup with a deal already signed for a player who was interesting two English giants.
