Sky Sports pundit makes Rangers finances admission as he takes a dig at Michael Beale
Andy Walker has taken a dig at Michael Beale for the lineup he picked as Rangers lost the final against Celtic 2-1 on Sunday.
He accused him of making a big mistake by not starting Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell as they were two signings made to strengthen the side in January.
Walker also admits that the club do not have the finances to strengthen and become as strong as Celtic in the summer.
He said on Sky Sports, “I was surprised to see that team. Barry Ferguson was also surprised that Raskin and Cantwell didn’t start. These were players identified in the January transfer window to make Rangers better, to make a difference, to give them more quality, and maybe to play a wee bit more football.
“Michael Beale needs to know that he’s not got to the quality and it takes a lot of money to get what Celtic have and I’m not convinced that Rangers have that kind of money.”
Spot on
We saw zero logic in him picking the team that he did on the weekend and he eventually paid the price for it.
We weren’t surprised to see the result because it’s how the team set out to play and were second best in every department.
Whether Beale second-guessed the opposition or was just not confident in his players, is anyone’s guess but it’s ridiculous to play a cup final that way.

It was his first and he’ll learn from it but hopefully, this does not happen again.
Regarding the finances, this board has been known to make blunder after blunder in the past and even if they had the money, we wouldn’t back them to get it right.
A complete overhaul is needed behind the scenes as Beale is a quality manager but needs people in the right place to help him get this club to where it should be and right now they’re some way away from it.
In other Rangers news, the club are in line for a multi-million windfall from the Premier League after a £10m Auchenhowie milestone was reached.
