Ross Wilson in Rangers masterclass as £5m James Sands transfer cancelled before it’s too late
Rangers have announced the termination of James Sands’ loan deal which finally indicates a good piece of work from Ross Wilson.
The sporting director has endured a tough time of late, with Malik Tillman the only real transfer success in the past two windows.
A lot of money has come into the club and the likes of Rabbi Matondo, Antonio Colak, Ridvan Yilmaz and Ben Davies have all been disappointing signings.

Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin are the latest players to come through the door, but it is far too early to make a judgement on the midfield pair. Sands was another player who was largely a failure during his loan spell at Ibrox and the decision to end his stay in Scotland was a smart choice.
American journalist Tom Bogert has suggested (Twitter, 7 June) Rangers had the option to sign the defender for £5million at the end of his current agreement with New York City FC; an option he expected the club to take up.
Sands has been underwhelming and after Michael Beale’s appointment, it’s become evident that he was not part of the former QPR boss’ plans.

Wilson allowing the defender to return to his parent club could prove to be an excellent call. A large squad overhaul is desperately required. There are a number of players who are well past their sell-buy date and cancelling the pre-existing agreement in Sands’ contract will allow Rangers to utilise their budget in other areas.
Defensive cover will now be required, as well as possible funds to make Malik Tillman’s deal permanent – a move Beale has made clear he wants to happen.
In other Rangers news, the fans must do more to get Douglas Park and Ross Wilson out of the club because enough is enough.
