Rangers: Charlie Adam brands Alfredo Morelos ‘disrespectful’ after clash v Celtic
Charlie Adam has branded Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos as “disrespectful” for his reaction to being subbed off during the Viaplay Cup final loss to Celtic on Sunday 26 February.
Adam confessed that Morelos let down Michael Beale and his teammates after reacting poorly on the “worldwide stage” at Hampden on Sunday afternoon.
Nevertheless, the former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder admitted that he understands Morelos’ frustrations in being taken off the pitch.

“Morelos was obviously frustrated because he’d just scored a goal and five minutes later he gets taken off. I also think it’s disrespectful to his teammates,” said Adam to Ice 36 as quoted by Football Scotland. (28 February)
“He’s on a worldwide stage with a lot of people watch and it doesn’t look good. It’s not good for the team or the culture within the group.
“Overall I don’t like it. It’s a tough one but I think it’s disrespectful to Michael Beale and Antonio Colak.
“Alfredo has been a fantastic player for Rangers with the goals he’s scored and I understand his frustration.”

Understandable.
Giving Morelos a hard time for being frustrated with being taken off is a bit much, he’d scored a goal and got Rangers back into the game and evidently wanted to stay on the pitch.
The Colombian has had an up-and-down season but it seems he has gained the trust of Beale who has opted to start him regularly in recent times.
Colak’s injuries have obviously helped this but Morelos has looked far more like his old self since Giovanni van Bronckhorst left the club.
And Sunday’s clash may be the last time Morelos gets to fight for some silverware in a Light Blues shirt with his contract coming to an end in three months’ time.
This may have added to his frustrations in being taken off the pitch as it’s hard to see the club extending his stay at Ibrox with a lengthy contract this summer.
Time will tell, but Morelos leaving Ibrox looks like an ever more likely scenario.
In other Rangers news, the fans must do more to get Douglas Park and Ross Wilson out of the club because enough is enough.
