Pundit issues verdict on Ibrox futures of Rangers duo Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent

Barry Ferguson believes that it’s perhaps best if Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent leave Rangers in the summer with their deals running out.

The two attackers started the 2-1 final loss against Celtic and Morelos even got his name on the score sheet but they have still not committed their future to the club.

Ferguson admits that Michael Beale has a big decision to make about them but feels it could be better to part ways with Todd Cantwell and possibly Malik Tillman being signed permanently.

Rangers

He told Go Radio “Obviously with Raskin and Cantwell coming in, maybe signing Tillman and you’ve got other players that are signed on for another two or three years, and then there’s the big two that everyone’s spoken about, probably for the last 18 months – Kent and Morelos.

“I like both of them, I do. I rate both of them as players.

“But sometimes you just need to go your different ways and start again, and that’s the big decision Michael Beale will have to make in the summer – not even in the summer. Now.

“This is when you start having to look forward to next season.”

Makes sense

If Beale has not managed to get a definitive answer from the two of them by now, there’s a good chance that they see their future away from the club.

Had Morelos or Kent been desperate to stay, there would’ve been progress in the talks but that has not been the case.

We will not be surprised if, within the next month or two, their agents start to get on the phone and offer their clients to Premier League or other European clubs.

Rangers

Morelos is no stranger to being linked with the exit door and it seems like his days at the club are now numbered.

He will be a big miss but Antonio Colak started the season strongly and could do well if he’s given a run of games once again.

There will certainly be clubs keen on signing Kent and Morelos and the fact that they’re available on free transfers make them all the more appetising options.

In other Rangers news, the club are in line for a multi-million windfall from the Premier League after a £10m Auchenhowie milestone was reached.
