Michael Beale to make at least four Rangers signings after Celtic defeat: Sky Sports pundit Kenny Miller
Michael Beale will “definitely” make more Rangers signings in the summer and Kenny Miller expects “at least” three or four arrivals after the loss to Celtic.
After defeat in the League Cup final on Sunday (26 February) it is once again evident that the Gers squad requires more of an overhaul, in addition to the January moves for Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell.
The failure to lift the first domestic trophy of the season is a significant blow to Beale’s revival at Ibrox, but former striker Miller feels it is “way too strong” to term the moves still to come a “rebuild”.

Miller said on Sky Sports on Monday (27 February): “I think ‘rebuild’ is way too strong. I think Rangers have a good squad, they’ve got a lot of strength in depth. You look at their bench yesterday and you see Kemar Roofe sitting in the stands as well.
“Michael’s got a good squad at his disposal. He’ll always look to put his own stamp on it, he’s already started that with the two additions in January.
“They’ll definitely do it again. I would imagine at least another three or four will come in the summer that are Michael’s players, and there are people who will move out as well.”
Absolutely
Miller is right that Rangers have a “good” squad, and in the right hands that has so far proven to be enough to overcome everyone in Scotland apart from Celtic.
On their day this side can match even illustrious European opponents, but perhaps the unbeaten run since Beale arrived has distracted from the ongoing need to improve in the same way Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s journey to the Europa League final did.
Good is not enough when dominating domestically and competing abroad is supposed to be the aim, and while the two January arrivals have made encouraging starts there is a lot still to do.

The fact that Beale decided to leave both Raskin and Cantwell on the bench when he named his starting XI has understandably raised eyebrows, and his team selection at Hampden is arguably his first major error since returning to Glasgow.
Injuries have been a big problem over the past couple of seasons and Roofe could be Lionel Messi but if he, as with the likes of Filip Helander, John Souttar and Ianis Hagi, can’t play so often it makes little difference.
There is inevitably going to be a lot of movement in the summer, with Allan McGregor likely to retire and both Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent still in line to leave on free transfers.
Even without those exits the side needs more, because for all the good that Beale has achieved it now reads zero wins from two against Ange Postecoglou and Celtic, and while that was unlucky on 2 January, it is not a record that he wants to add to.
In other Rangers news, footage has emerged of one Light Blues sensation being stretchered off against a Real Madrid side with a concerning injury.
