Barry Ferguson shares verdict on Alfredo Morelos furious reaction in Rangers loss v Celtic
Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos looked furious after he was taken off in the Viaplay Cup final in the 2-1 defeat against Celtic at Hampden Park on Sunday (26 February).
Morelos kicked out at the hoarding as he stomped off the pitch. Barry Ferguson says it shows how much it means to the Colombian striker and he is happy to have someone in the side who doesn’t accept the situation.
Morelos, who scored for the Gers and gave them a slim hope, was taken off and replaced by Antonio Colak as Michael Beale tried to come up with a solution to level the scoreline.

“I thought he had a pretty quiet game to be honest with you, he scored his goal and you could see he wasn’t too happy when getting taken off. A lot of people might make a lot of that,” said Ferguson to Go Radio (February 26).
“I would rather see a player upset when he is getting taken off. Rather than just sauntering up to the bench and putting your coat on and not bothering. In terms of Rangers as a whole, they just didn’t do enough to win the Cup.”
Poor game
Ferguson is right that the Bears didn’t not enough to win the game, and the scoreline is a fair reflection of the performance as well.
Ryan Kent came close to scoring as well in the second half but apart from half chances, Rangers failed to dominate the game. The battle was lost in the midfield, and the Gers only looked better after Morelos pulled one back.
Once again, the club paid for a slow start, and they made individual errors at the back for both goals. At this level, in such a high-pressure game, you cannot afford to make such school-boy errors at the back.

Morelos didn’t receive enough support from his teammates, but he was involved in a dangerous move in the first half when Cameron Carter-Vickers cleared the danger from inside the box.
He has been scoring goals freely under Beale, but it’s unclear what the future holds for him. Morelos has a contract at the club until the end of the season, and he is yet to sign a new deal at Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, the club have pulled of a major transfer coup with a deal already signed for a player who was interesting two English giants.
