Rangers defender Connor Goldson slammed for Celtic display

Rangers defender Connor Goldson has been slammed for his role played in the concession of a goal in the Viaplay Cup final against Celtic.

The Hoops ended up winning the game 2-1 in what was a pretty abject performance from Michael Beale’s side.

They were second best in all departments and Goldson, who was clearly at fault for letting a goal go in, did not have a good game.

Via Twitter, Rangers Review journalist Jonny McFarlane wrote, “A terrible goal to lose with Goldson in no man’s land. Celtic the better team but quite a close battle. Morelos is doing the dog work off the ball but he’s not getting involved enough on it. Raskin to come on?”

Disappointing

There were at least four Rangers players that can be blamed for the concession of this goal and that says a lot.

None of the players appeared to turn up for what was the biggest game of the season for them.

It was a contest against their local rivals and a chance to win silverware – the first under new manager Michael Beale.

Rangers

Even Beale deserves his fair share of the criticism for the team he put out and it was just an awful day at the office for the 55-time champions.

They’re going to have to shrug this loss off and come back stronger because it can have a detrimental impact on the rest of the season.

Beale will also have learned that to succeed at the highest level he’s going to have to do a lot more and this is a big wake-up call.
