Chris Sutton trolls Michael Beale with two-word reaction after Rangers 2-1 loss v Celtic
Chris Sutton has aimed a sarcastic dig at Michael Beale after Rangers lost 2-1 against Celtic in the Viaplay Cup final on Sunday (26 February) at Hampden Park.
Two goals from Kyogo Furuhashi in either half gave Celtic a 2-0 handy lead. Alfredo Morelos pulled one back, but it wasn’t enough in the end.
A poor start in the first half and an equally slow start to the second half cost the game while the team selection can be questioned as well.
Beale was involved in a war of words with Sutton prior to the derby clash, and he suggested that Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou was lucky with the transfer funds he gets.
Sutton took this opportunity to aim a dig at Beale, by tweeting “Lucky Ange”.
“Lucky Ange,” Sutton tweeted (26 February).
Poor
It was Beale’s first defeat since replacing Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Ibrox.
The team selection was probably wrong with Beale starting with Malik Tillman and John Lundstram, both the players were not fully fit.
He should have trusted his squad, and started with Todd Cantwell who made a bright impact after coming on in the second half.
Morelos remained isolated for a large part of the game and didn’t receive enough services. Rangers did create some good opportunities towards the end, and the scoreline could have been different had they been positive from the first whistle.

The defeat hurts, but there’s a lesson to be learned. Many pundits have criticized Beale for engaging in a spat with Sutton, which wasn’t needed at all.
Beale has done well so far at Rangers but the defeat is a clear reminder that he has a lot of work to be done to close the gap with the Scottish champions.
In other Rangers news, the club have pulled of a major transfer coup with a deal already signed for a player who was interesting two English giants.
