Ally McCoist shocked by ‘absolutely unbelievable’ Fashion Sakala incident in Rangers loss v Celtic as footage emerges
Ally McCoist cannot believe how Fashion Sakala failed to score in the second half of Rangers’ 2-1 Viaplay Cup final defeat to Celtic at Hampden Park on Sunday.
Ryan Kent hit the post with an effort while Celtic were 2-0 ahead, with the ball rebounding into the path of Sakala as he charged in from the right wing.
It was a tight angle for Sakala but instead of passing it to a fellow attacker, he opted to have an effort at goal and hit the side-netting.

McCoist was stunned by Sakala’s poor decision as the Zambian wasted a huge change for Rangers to get back in the game.
Speaking on Viaplay’s live coverage on Sunday (26 February, 04:11pm), McCoist said: “I’ve got to say, my initial reaction is I cannot believe Sakala has hit that side-netting.
“It’s a great effort [by Kent] but Sakala’s got to come back across. It’s an incredible decision, it really is.
“To hit the side-netting there is absolutely unbelievable.”

Woeful
Sakala wasn’t the only one but there were no good performances in that side on Saturday.
Michael Beale has lost his first game as the Rangers manager and the finger should be pointed at himself as much as anyone else.
He dropped Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell for players who’ve been terrible for most of the season or have recently been injured.
It was a ridiculous decision for the starting line-up while his decision to sub on players like Scott Wright and take off goalscorer Alfredo Morelso also cost us.
He’s a rookie manager at the end of the day and maybe a more experienced manager wouldn’t have made such poor personnel decisions at Hampden Park.
Sakala’s been good for Beale so we have no complaints about him starting. But he has games like this a lot when he just doesn’t step up and everything he does seems to be wrong.
