Rangers and Celtic transfer news as club scouts to watch Dimitris Kourbelis today
Rangers and Celtic have both sent scouts to watch Panathinaikos captain Dimitris Kourbelis play in the Greek derby against Olympiacos, according to Yellow Radio journalist Georgios Sideridis.
Both Rangers and Celtic will battle it out in the ViaPlay Cup final this Sunday and it looks like they will challenge each other in the transfer market too.
Panathinaikos will be playing against Olympiacos today on 25 February as Kourbelis’ side looks to extend their stay at the top of the Greek Super League.
“Celtic FC and Rangers FC are set to have scouts on the Greek derby between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos for Panathinaikos’ captain, Dimitris Kourbelis,” said Sideridis on Twitter. (24 February, 11:21 AM)
Capped 30 times by the Greek national team, Kourbelis is out of contract at the end of this season.

One to watch?
It will be interesting to see if any more Greek media outlets pick up on this story after this game to add more fuel to the fire of a potential Ibrox move.
Rangers’ links with the midfielder have seemingly come out of nowhere, although, it wouldn’t be completely out of the question for scouts to be sent abroad.
In all fairness, scouting missions simply begin and end at that and it’s common practice for clubs in the modern game to watch multiple different players.
The Greek does, however, have the attributes and experience to make him an extremely decent option for Rangers in the transfer window.
Nevertheless, at 29 years old a move for the Greek midfielder would seem to be a bit of a step away from Michael Beale’s obvious young recruiting methods.
But with his contract coming to an end this summer and a potential cheap deal on the cards, there are far worse options on the market to explore.
In other Rangers news, a Celtic hero has admitted Beale wasn’t wrong about his assessment of Chris Sutton’s Chelsea career.
