Fashion Sakala will be under pressure to perform after ‘other mob’ jibe ahead of Viaplay Cup final clash v Celtic
Rangers forward Fashion Sakala must show he can walk the walk after his “other mob” jibe aimed at Celtic ahead of their ViaPlay Cup final clash on Sunday afternoon.
The Zambian international has emerged as one of the club’s most influential players since Michael Beale’s appointment in November, registering seven goal involvements since then.
Speaking in his press conference before Sunday’s fierce Old Firm clash, the 25-year-old refused to name Celtic when discussing the Gers’ opponents, intensifying the rivalry between the two clubs.

“Obviously I know how important the game is when you play against the other mob,” said Sakala live on Sky Sports News on Wednesday (Bryan R Fotheringham personal Twitter, 22 February).
The player’s comments has certainly aroused the significance of the game amongst both sets of players and fans, but he’s also brought criticism from ex-Old Firm players Chris Sutton and John Hartson, with the latter calling him to be “more respectful”.
Sunday’s encounter is set to be an engrossing and fierce contest but Beale and the Gers fans will be hoping one of his star men can walk the walk when the two sides meet at Hampden Park.
The 25-year-old has proven a crucial performer for the Gers so far this campaign, but none of that will matter if he doesn’t perform when the club desperately need him to perform on Sunday.
Calling your fierce rivals “the other mob” ahead of a crucial contest between the two shows a player brimming with confidence and arrogance, two ingredients certainly needed in a cup final.

The Gers will be looking to continue their impressive unbeaten run under Beale and secure their first trophy under his management, and to do that, they will desperately need Sakala to prove his class this Sunday. No pressure.
In other Rangers news, Kenny Miller has questioned if the club need to make a marquee signing this summer.
