Rangers v Celtic: Kenny Miller predicts outcome of Viaplay Cup final

Rangers will face Celtic in the Viaplay Cup final at Hampden Park on Sunday (26 February) and Kenny Miller predicts the Gers to lift the trophy.

Celtic have looked unbeatable all season but the Bears have also enjoyed an unbeaten run under Michael Beale, winning 13 of their last 14 games.

Miller said on the Open Goal podcast (23 February) that both teams will be tied at 1-1 after 90 minutes, and then the Gers will score in extra time to secure a 2-1 win.

“I’m going the other way. 1-1 [after 90 minutes]. 2-1 Rangers. Extra time,” said Miller (Open Goal, 32:03).

Team selection

This is a massive game for the Gers in the context of the season and beyond.

The Gers are nine points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and the title race is as good as over unless there’s a dramatic collapse from the Bhoys.

Beale has done a great job so far, but he will convince the players and the board that he is the right choice by lifting cup trophies to start with.

The Bears will not only receive a massive psychological boost if they win here, but it will give them confidence for the rest of the season and beyond.

Rangers

The team selection will be crucial. Beale should start with Fashion Sakala for this game alongside Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent in the three-man forward line.

Sakala was outstanding against Celtic in the last meeting and his lightning pace can cause problems again. In midfield, Beale has got loads of options, but Malik Tillman is doubtful for this game.

In other Rangers news, Kenny Miller has questioned if the club need to make a marquee signing this summer.
