Police share images of man wanted after incident at Rangers v Dundee United at Ibrox

CCTV images have been released of a man wanted after an alleged incident during Rangers’ Scottish Premiership clash against Dundee United in September 2022.

The individual is wanted in relation to an investigation into “reckless conduct” and an image depicting his face during the match at Ibrox has been shared by police.

Constable Daniel Brady of the Greater Glasgow Divisional Violence Reduction Unit has urged the man, or anyone who knows him, to make contact with them.

“I would urge the man, or anyone who has information relating to him, depicted in the images to make contact with police,” he said (Glasgow Evening Times, 23 February).

“Members of the public can contact Police Scotland via the 101 non-emergency telephone number quoting incident number 1428 of September 17, 2022, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Forgettable

The 2-1 win over Dundee United on that afternoon was certainly a forgettable one. It was during the Light Blues’ poor run of form under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and the feeling surrounding Ibrox wasn’t particularly great. This weekend’s cup final against Celtic has a very different feel to it.

The Light Blues head to Hampden Park in superb form – and they will fancy their chances of picking up a positive result against their fierce rivals. Despite Ange Postecoglou’s team also enjoying another winning streak, anything is possible in a cup final and the Light Blues had the better of the two teams in their previous clash at Ibrox.

Rangers

It promises to be a crucial game in the wider context of the season. A win for Rangers will send a warning shot to the Parkhead side. They’re well ahead in the league standings, but with both clubs set to meet on multiple occasions between now and the end of the season, anything is possible.

In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton has piled the pressure on Beale ahead of the game and claims he hasn’t backed up all his talk since arriving at Ibrox.
