Ally McCoist ‘impressed’ by Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos ahead of Old Firm clash v Celtic
Ally McCoist is “impressed” by improvements shown by Alfredo Morelos under Michael Beale, and says that Rangers can rely on him now.
The Bears will face archrivals Celtic in the Viaplay Cup final at Hampden Park on Sunday (26 February), and Morelos is expected to lead the line for Beale’s side.
The Colombian has endured a rollercoaster season and he dropped down the pecking order under Giovanni van Bronckhorst who was not happy with the striker’s fitness.

McCoist feels that Morelos, 26, can still improve in that department but he has once again proved to be a reliable option under Beale.
“I think it’s going to be a very open game,” McCoist told Grosvenor Sport, as relayed by Football Scotland.
“Anything can happen in the Old Firm, especially at Hampden.
“Alfredo Morelos has impressed me since Michael Beale has come into the fold, although I still think he could improve his fitness. I also think Rangers can rely on him more now.”
Is it?
Summer signing Antonio Colak was preferred ahead of Morelos, but the Colombian international has found his mojo back under Beale.
He is now playing regularly and has scored four goals in his last five Scottish Premiership appearances.
It is indeed baffling that Morelos, a player who has scored over 100 goals for the club, is still seen as someone who can’t be properly relied on.
This is a massive game for Rangers, and Morelos can certainly play a big role on Sunday.

Both teams love to play expansive football, and fans would enjoy an open game as well.
The last time the two sides met, it ended in a 2-2 draw. Since then, the Bears have won all of their games, and they are in fantastic form ahead of this fixture.
Celtic, on the other hand, are been brilliant throughout the season, and it would be a classic contest. It’s all about keeping your composure in the derby and giving your best on the pitch.
Rangers will receive a massive psychological boost if they can lift their first trophy under Beale.
In other Rangers news, Kenny Miller has questioned if the club need to make a marquee signing this summer.
