Rangers transfer news as agent of Lewis Ferguson speaks out on possibility of Ibrox return
Rangers won’t be willing to pay the money required to lure former youth product Lewis Ferguson back to Ibrox in the future, according to his agent Bill McMurdo.
Ferguson, 23, has set the Serie A alight this season after moving from Aberdeen last summer, and McMurdo told the Record Sport (20 February) that there was already registered interest from Italian powerhouses AC Milan and Juventus for his services.
The Bologna player’s agent then admitted he was surprised that neither the Gers nor Celtic had looked to sign Ferguson but admitted that both clubs had probably now missed the boat.

He said: “There was no contact from either Rangers or Celtic. I was even getting people who were involved at Ibrox, phoning me and asking: ‘Are you sure we’re not interested here?’
“I don’t think a Scottish club will pay the money they’ll be looking for now.
“If he desires it, there’s not a doubt in my mind that he will play in the English Premier League. But I think if he got an offer from a big team in Italy or Germany, he’d go there.”

Shame
After initially being released by Rangers as a youngster, it really looks like the club have missed out on an up-and-coming star in Ferguson.
Although it doesn’t look like Michael Beale will be able to lure him back to Ibrox, at least Celtic won’t stand a chance either. Nothing would anger Rangers fans more than seeing a prospect such as Ferguson lighting up the Scottish Premiership for their fiercest rivals.
With the likes of Juventus and AC Milan interested in the transfer, it is yet another sign of the brilliant strides Scottish football has taken in recent years and the number of promising youngsters rising the ranks. Bologna does seem to be the breeding ground for top Scottish talent of late, with Aaron Hickey moving there in 2020 before signing for Brentford this season.
Considering the price Bologna would likely have requested for Ferguson, it looks like the Gers managed to snap up a far cheaper alternative in the January transfer window through Nicolas Raskin.
In other Rangers news, Kenny Miller has questioned if the club need to make a marquee signing this summer.
