Cedric Itten reacts after James Tavernier inducted into Rangers Hall of Fame

James Tavernier wrote on Instagram that it’s an “unbelievable” feeling after he was inducted into the Rangers Hall of Fame on Monday (20 February).

The 31-year-old right-back who has been at the club since 2015, has made more than 385 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 95 goals.

He has been a symbol of consistency for the club in the past few seasons and has been in brilliant form this campaign as well.

Cedric Itten, the former Gers striker, was among others to congratulate him.

“What an unbelievable feeling to be inducted into the Rangers Hall of Fame. To be sharing my name with the greats of our special club is a true honour. I want to thank everybody who’s been part of my journey so far. A huge congratulations also to my team mates Alan McGregor and Steven Davis,” wrote Tavernier.

“Well done skip,” responded Itten.

Deserved

Tavernier is a modern great for Rangers, and he deserves to be honoured for his contributions.

He doesn’t get the due recognition as other right-backs in the world, but his numbers prove his quality. Since 2017-18, he has taken his game to a whole new level.

In the previous two seasons, he has scored over 17 goals for the club in all competitions and has scored 12 so far. Tavernier is a fantastic crosser of the ball, and he is very good at taking free kicks.

Rangers

Ideally, Tavernier would have wanted to liked to win more trophies at the club, but so far he has managed only one Scottish Premiership title.

Tavernier will have to play a crucial role this weekend when the Bears will take on Celtic in the Viaplay Cup final at Hampden Park.

The Gers are already nine points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, but they have a good chance here of winning a domestic trophy here.
