Rangers: Chris Sutton delivers damning Michael Beale Ibrox future verdict

Chris Sutton believes Michael Beale’s days at Rangers are numbered if the Ibrox manager can’t take criticism from pundits like himself.

Beale and Sutton have been throwing jibes back and forth and the BT Sport pundit has now claimed that the Rangers boss’s skin is “thinner than cheap toilet paper”.

Sutton confessed that his comments from the Rangers and Partick clash that sparked the heated exchange were simply tongue and cheek despite it boiling over since.

“The great thing about football is people love talking about and pundits are there to spark debate or take part in it,” said Sutton as quoted by the Daily Record. (pg 66, 18 February)

“And if simply talking about a major moment in last week’s game gets under his skin then goodness knows how he’s going to cope long-term in the Ibrox job.

“You aren’t going to survive long in Glasgow if you have skin thinner than cheap toilet roll. In regards to the Thistle incident last week, all I was was would Rangers gift a goal back if they were in a similar situation against Celtic. It was slightly tongue in cheek as well but the point stands.”

Rangers

Rattled.

Sutton has been well and truly rattled by this whole fiasco and maybe Beale and Rangers fans should question his playing career more often if they get a reaction like this.

Despite Sutton’s attempts to prolong this argument, it’s unlikely that Beale will go back at the BT Sport pundit anytime soon, despite any urges he may have to do so.

The Rangers hierarchy have probably told Beale quietly to steer away from any more confrontations with Sutton as it’s never a good look.

Nevertheless, it has been entertaining for fans and it seems that Sutton isn’t ready to throw in the towel just yet as he came for Beale again in the Record.

As always you have to take Sutton’s comments with a pinch of salt, the former Celtic forward loves to jibe Rangers at any given opportunity and that’s exactly what he is doing here.

A thumping win against Livingston on 18 February should be enough for Beale to shut Sutton up, for now.
