Rangers: Barry Ferguson weighs in on Michael Beale and Chris Sutton feud

Barry Ferguson has reacted to the ongoing feud between Rangers boss Michael Beale and BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton admitting the manager should have “body swerved” the confrontation.

Beale cheekily aimed a dig at Sutton which branded the pundit as Chelsea’s worst-ever player, however, he never named Sutton as such.

Sutton responded on Twitter to the comments by saying “the dog barks but the caravan keeps moving” in an obvious attempt to rile Beale.

“He is clearly annoyed Michael Beale about it,” said Ferguson on the Go Radio Football Show as quoted by the Daily Record. (17 February)

“But I would have body-swerved it and not even spoke about what Chris Sutton said.”

Beale 1-0.

If his response on Twitter is anything to go by it seems like Beale has got Sutton well and truly rattled and this spat has actually been enjoyable to watch.

Beale calling Sutton out publically was one thing but for the former Celtic forward to get agitated enough to respond is even better.

Sutton has always loved putting Rangers down at any given moment so it’s hardly surprising that he’s got Beale to stand up for the club on this occasion.

With luck, the BT Sport pundit will have learned his lesson from this one, however, something says that Sutton will be back at it again when given the opportunity to do so.

From Beale’s side, this will likely be the end of the short but entertaining feud and it’s probable that the powers that be at Rangers will have asked him to refrain next time around.

Beale gets the win in extra time with a 90th-minute screamer in this one. 1-0.

In other Rangers news, the club are in line for a multi-million windfall from the Premier League after a £10m Auchenhowie milestone was reached.
