Rangers transfer news as club gathers data from starlets family before offering contract
The Athletic has reported that Rangers gathered “various data” from young starlet Lewis Stewart’s family before offering him a professional contract.
Stewart is 5ft 3in but the club are not concerned by his slight frame after inputting and gaining data on both sides of his family’s heights.
This provides the club with a specific expected height for each of their young talents and this is one of the reasons behind offering Stewart a three-year deal for him to mature.

“Stewart is 5ft 3in (160cm) and one of the smaller players at his age but his game is about cutting in off the left wing and using his football brain and technical ability. Rangers’ head of coaching Zeb Jacobs says he epitomises the club’s focus on players who are dominant one v one,” as quoted by The Athletic. (16 February)
“The club are not concerned about his slight frame because they gather heights from both sides of the family and input various data into an algorithm which provides them with an expected height. That is why a three-year deal for Stewart will give him time to physically mature.”

Smart approach.
In the cruel and harsh world of modern football, it’s no surprise that Rangers aren’t leaving anything to chance in their offerings of professional contracts.
And this is always a smart approach to go about things, the club must know if a player is going to be able to step up and face the physical demands of the professional game.
Nevertheless, as fans have seen in recent years, height isn’t everything and a majority of the world’s best talents have been on the smaller side of life.
In fact, arguably the world’s greatest-ever footballer Lionel Messi stands at only 5ft 5in, Rangers can only dream that the likes of Stewart could follow the Argentine’s illustrious path.
In reality, Stewart alongside the other youngsters handed their first professional contracts will be gearing up for their first ever job, something which just so happens to be a professional footballer.
With academy successes like Nathan Patterson to draw inspiration from, the road to achieving their dreams is definitely there for the taking at Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, the Ibrox bank is set for a cash boost after a document emerged on Wednesday.
