Michael Beale drops big hint on Rangers winger Ryan Kent’s future at Ibrox

Michael Beale has dropped a massive hint that Rangers winger Ryan Kent could be staying at the club beyond the summer.

The Bears boss has shared his vision for what he wants his side to look like in the next few years, and he namedropped the winger as one of the main players to feature in his long-term plans.

Kent is out of contract at the end of this season, alongside Alfredo Morelos. However, using a billboard analogy, pointing to his players as the main protagonists, he has mentioned Kent’s name as well.

“I think if there was a big billboard outside of Ibrox saying ‘what does this Rangers team look like?’, you can only play the way those players allow you to play,” said Beale to Rangers Tv.

“Our team has always to go be a team that has a lot of relationships on the pitch. It’s got to have a lot of combination player, you’ve got to give them some freedom.

“When I think of this team, I’m saying now that you have Ryan Kent, Raskin, Tom Lawrence, Todd Cantwell or whoever you want to put on this billboard in terms of that’s the Rangers that’s going to be here for the next four or five years.”

New contract?

Beale has always maintained that he wants to keep Kent at the club, and has always looked calm whenever he is asked to provide an update on the player’s future.

It seems like the Gers boss is already thinking of long-term plans, and how he is going to shape his squad. Obviously, he will look his stamp his own authority on the side by selling players and bringing in new faces next summer.

Rangers fans will be excited to hear this, and it seems that behind-the-scene works are going on to convince Kent to stay put.

Kent struggled under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and looked like a shadow of the player he once was in the first half of the campaign. Under Beale, it’s a different story.

The new manager has tweaked his role a bit. Previously, Kent hugged the touchline and attempted efforts on goal by cutting inside. In that way, he became very predictable with his movements.

At the same time, he is very skillful. Beale now uses him more centrally, a role perfectly executed by Lionel Messi during the World Cup in Qatar for Argentina. He can drift out wide or play between the centre, and bamboozles the defenders with his movement.

It has worked wonders, and it’s no coincidence that there has been a marked improvement in his form. Let’s hope, he commits his future by penning a new deal.
