Rangers will be desperate to secure Malik Tilman’s Ibrox future as transfer concern emerges

Rangers boss Michael Beale will be desperate to secure Malik Tilman’s future at Ibrox following reports that the bigger clubs around Europe may be tempted into signing him this summer.

Tillman who is currently on loan at Rangers from Bayern Munich has enjoyed a breakout season since the arrival of Michael Beale at the club, scoring eight goals and four assists in all competitions so far this campaign.

It is understood that the Gers want to secure Tillman on a permanent agreement once his loan deal expires in the summer [The Athletic, 25 January].

German BILD journalist Christian Falk revealed [14 September] that the Light Blues have the option to buy Tillman for £5m-£6m when his loan agreement eventually comes to a close.

However, there may be a concern at Ibrox that clubs with deeper pockets than Rangers may make moves for Malik Tillman in the summer, according to the Scottish Daily Mail [pg 72, 14 February].

The report claims that “Rangers will naturally seek to activate their option to buy him from Bayern Munich come the summer.

“The only concern is that clubs with deeper pockets may now become part of the equation.”

The player himself recently left the door open to a potential exit this summer too, stating that he “just wants to play as much as possible”.

Transcribing his comments on Twitter, ESPN’s Derek Rae [14 February] wrote, “I just want to play as much as possible. To me, it’s relatively unimportant where that is. I feel comfortable here, in fact very comfortable. I bring my performances which I think Rangers are really happy with. But I could also imagine the same with the people at Bayern.

“So we’ll see.”

These two developments will come as a major concern for the Scottish giants as Tillman has swiftly evolved to become one of the club’s key performers in just a matter of months.

The team should be helped by the fact that it looks like Tillman is enjoying his football under Beale, something that went missing during Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s tenure at the club.

Also, Gers boss Beale is impressively building a young and vibrant crop at Ibrox, which Tillman will be crucial for, which means the club must do everything in their power to convince him to reject other advances around Europe and stay at Ibrox.

The American’s movement, intricate technical skills and unique abilities both in the final third and in front of goal certainly makes him a complete package at Ibrox, and it is why the Gers must continue to build around him.

At 20-years-old, the player still has a lot to learn and develop within his game, and there may be no better place for him to grow even further than at Ibrox, Beale will have a crucial role on his hands trying to help Tillman to acknowledge that.
