Rangers career could be over for Scott Wright after Michael Beale snub v Partick Thistle

Rangers winger Scott Wright could be facing an uncertain future at Ibrox.

The 25-year-old has a contract at the club until 2025, but he doesn’t seem to feature prominently in Michael Beale’s plans.

The Bears are choc-a-bloc with top-quality players in their attacking ranks, and Wright has dropped down the pecking order.

He has further fallen back after Beale signed Todd Cantwell in the January window from Norwich City.

The winger has made only five starts in the Scottish Premiership and hasn’t started a single game under Beale. He last played an entire game in the 1-1 draw against St Mirren on 12 December.

He has failed to manage even 20 minutes of action in a game under Beale thus far [Whoscored]. Many had expected that the Gers boss will give him some game time against Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup on Sunday (12 February), but he was wasted on the bench.

Wright didn’t even a single minute as Rangers won 3-2 to reach the next stage. In such a scenario, it is getting increasingly evident that Beale doesn’t seem to trust him enough.

With Kemar Roofe now back into the side, Beale is likely to shuffle his packs, and it is really hard to see how Wright will manage games for the rest of the season.

Wright is primarily a right-winger but he can play across all three positions upfront. He is a bit direct player with a limited skillset, compared to Ryan Kent, Tillman, Ianis Hagi, or Cantwell.

It looks like his career at Rangers is as good as over.
