Morgan Whittaker Wednesday development opens door for fresh Rangers bid
Swansea City forward Morgan Whittaker has found himself on the bench once again – and Rangers must ensure they prepare a summer swoop for the 22-year-old.
The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano claimed (via Twitter, 27 January) the Light Blues had submitted a £2million bid for the former Plymouth Argyle loanee, who had managed 16 goals and assists in the first half of the season. However, the board couldn’t get a move over the line, with the Championship club holding out for more.
Whittaker hasn’t started a game since the January window slammed shut and the Gers must return in the summer to end the Englishman’s time in South Wales. The 22-year-old was yet again only worthy of a place on the bench in the Swans’ Wednesday night fixture against Blackpool (15 February).

Either Russell Martin clearly doesn’t feel the influential attacker is ready to make an impact, or he’s punishing him for leaning towards the exit door.
Hopefully, Martin’s reluctance to utilise Whittaker will open the door for the Gers to make another bid for the forward. Michael Beale was relatively coy on the possibility of the 22-year-old moving north of the border, but Rangers’ boss would be lying if he said he wouldn’t want to sign the Swansea man.

Considering Whittaker’s lack of action, this is certainly one for the Ibrox faithful to keep an eye on for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign.
If Martin continues to neglect the youngster, then a renewed move from the Gers certainly looks more likely.
In other Rangers news, the Ibrox bank is set for a cash boost after a document emerged on Wednesday.
