Rangers transfer perfect for Todd Cantwell who now has point to prove
Graham Dorrans has suggested that the timing of joining Rangers was “perfect” for Todd Cantwell, as he needed a change of scenery.
Cantwell joined the Bears in the summer transfer window from Norwich. Speaking to the Scottish Daily Mail (page 77, 9 February), Dorrans said that the behind-the-scene situation at Carrow Road might have hurt his ego, and the 24-year-old might want to prove people wrong at Norwich.
Dorrans, the former Rangers and Norwich midfielder, feels that Cantwell may have suffered a dip in confidence in recent years, but he can now display his talents in front of a new audience.

“I don’t know the ins and outs of what happened at Norwich but there was obviously something going on because I’ve seen the posts he put out,” Dorrans told the Scottish Daily Mail (page 77, 9 February).
“If a situation has happened, or if they’ve told him he’s surplus to requirements, it can hurt your ego a little bit.
“He might have the bit between his teeth to come up here and go: “I’ll show them. I’ll show how good I am”. He might think he’s got a point to prove or maybe want to prove people wrong at Norwich. That can only be beneficial to Rangers.
“Maybe a dip in confidence or a little bit more expectation on his shoulders, I don’t know. But I think his career had stalled a bit in the last couple of seasons.
“The timing of coming to Rangers was probably perfect for him. The change of scenery, a different environment.”
Lively
Cantwell has made a bright start to his career at Ibrox. He spoke of leaving scars behind when he was unveiled, and probably he has bad feelings about how things ended for him at Carrow Road.
He developed from Norwich’s academy ranks and was one of their standout players when the Canaries were in the Premier League.
In recent years, he did suffer a dip in form, and the club probably felt that he was surplus to requirements. He struggled to recapture his previous peak forms but has made a lively start at Ibrox.

In his debut against St Johnstone, he produced a lovely through-ball which was flicked on by Alfredo Morelos to Glen Kamara. He followed it up with a man-of-the-match performance in the win over Ross County.
He produced a perfect cross which was headed home by Malik Tillman. He was signed mainly to add creativity and imagination to the Ibrox side, and his initial performances have left the fans excited.
In other Rangers news, the Ibrox bank is set for a cash boost after a document emerged on Wednesday.
