Rangers tipped to make big profit on Nicolas Raskin already - pundit

We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox

Tam McManus is pleased with what he’s seen from Nicolas Raskin in his brief Rangers debut at the weekend in the win over Ross County at Ibrox.

Raskin, 21, joined the Gers from Standard Liege on transfer deadline day and was shown off to the fans for the first time on Saturday in the 2-1 Scottish Premiership win over the Staggies.

Ross Wilson signed the Belgium Under-21 international for £1.7million with his contract at Liege ending at the end of the season.

McManus believes that the deal for Raskin shows that the Light Blues are continuing with their efforts to sign young, up-and-coming players on the cheap before turning a massive profit on them in the future.

“Raskin was obviously somebody who they were desperate to get in,” McManus told Ibrox News.

It’s a real move in the right direction for Rangers in terms of signing young players.

It wasn’t always like that because they had guys like Joey Barton, Clint Hill and Nico Kranjcar going in.

There’s been a real change there to sign young players and then sell them on for bigger fees.

They’ve done that already with the likes of Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo.

Rangers fans will be delighted.

Raskin got some minutes against Ross County at the weekend and looked decent so they’ll be looking to see how he gets on.

He’s got a bit of flair about him so I think the fans will enjoy watching him.”
