Charlie McCann would snap someone's hand off to seal Rangers return in future

Charlie McCann says that he would “snap someone’s hand off” in the future to return to Rangers.

The 20-year-old left Ibrox in the January window to join League One side Forest Green Rovers where he will be playing under Duncan Ferguson.

The former Manchester United talent has admitted that both Ross Wilson and Micheal Beale didn’t want him to leave, but he made the difficult decision to progress further in his career.

He made his professional debut at Ibrox, and everyone wanted him to do well. It’s just that it was difficult for him to break into the first team setup immediately.

“I’ve always said the one thing I want to do in my career is play consistently for Rangers. If I was doing that now, I wouldn’t even be thinking about going anywhere else,” said McCann to Daily Record.

“And I’ll always want to fulfil that ambition in my career, if I can. If I could get back here, and become a Rangers player again, I wouldn’t miss that opportunity.

“I’d snap someone’s hand off for that in the future. I’m just at the point now where I have to go and make a proper football career for myself – before I start to drift away.”

Right move

The Northern Ireland international was sold to the League One club for a fee of around £350,000 in the January window [Glasgow Times].

While he hasn’t racked up appearances at Ibrox, the experience he gathered at one of Britain’s biggest clubs will be vital for the next part of his career.

He had been a standout for Rangers B, and there were hopes that he could be drafted into the first-team at some point. But, the Bears are choc-a-bloc in midfield areas, and it would have been really difficult for him to get into the side.

He could have opted to sit it out at Rangers for the long term, but he decided to move elsewhere for regular games.

The youngster got plenty of mentors at Rangers, including Steven Davis. He has already featured for his country and should be getting more games if he plays regularly now.

He seems in pain for leaving Rangers, but who knows, he can make a dream return to Ibrox one day.
