Rangers transfer news as Michael Beale quizzes players on new signings

The January transfer window provided a “fascinating” insight into how Michael Beale operates with his Rangers squad when new signings come into the team, according to the Scottish Daily Mail (pg. 112, 4 February).

Rangers made two signings last month, with Beale bringing midfield duo Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin into the mix at Ibrox.

The Scottish Daily Mail (pg. 112, 4 February) reports that Beale consulted senior players like James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Alan McGregor and Scott Arfield to help the new signings settle into life at Rangers.

“The recent transfer window provided a fascinating example of his approach. As deals for Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin progressed, he made a point of consulting with senior players to ensure they were ready to help new additions settle into the dressing-room culture and playing style,” as quoted by the Scottish Daily Mail (pg. 112, 4 February).

“Captain James Tavernier, vice-captain Connor Goldson, veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor and experienced midfielder Scott Arfield are among those within the ‘leadership group of the Rangers squad'”.

Rangers

Summer of change.

With only two signings made in January, it suggests there will be a summer of change at Ibrox and Beale will undoubtedly want to have multiple incomings.

A new central defender and goalkeeper will likely be high on the agenda of the Englishman, with the club’s woeful injury record at the back and McGregor nearing the end of his career.

Some fans would argue that a new forward should be brought into Ibrox too, but Alfredo Morelos’ upturn in form under Beale suggests the club may stick with the Colombian.

Of course, a lot can change from now until the end of the campaign and Beale will likely use this time to assess where he wants to take his squad next.

Contracts and places in his starting XI for next season are now up for grabs and it will be interesting to see who steps up to the plate in the coming months.
