Nicolas Raskin was wrapped in red tape with work permit issue for Rangers
Nicolas Raskin was wrapped in Rangers red tape due to work permit issues which were halting him from being in the squad to face Ross County on 4 February, according to the Glasgow Times.
Work permits are necessary for players coming into the United Kingdom from overseas and there were unfortunately some issues facing Raskin.
The problem facing the young Belgian was the fact he had no full international caps for his country something that doesn’t guarantee an automatic pass with the Scottish FA’s guidelines, however, this has since been cleared up.

“Work permits are necessary for players coming into the UK from overseas,” as quoted by the Glasgow Times. (3 February)
“If a player doesn’t come over with full international caps for their country, they can’t be guaranteed an automatic pass in line with the Scottish FA’s rules.
“To date, Raskin has only played for Belgium’s under-21s so didn’t pass. However, he now has all the red tape cleared ahead of Saturday’s Premiership match against the Staggies.”

Debut ready.
Raskin could now be handed his full Rangers debut against Ross County by Michael Beale and could even be in with a start in the Scottish Premiership clash.
The maestro’s relentless style of play is exactly what the Gers engine room needs right now and his signing could prove to be one of extreme significance for Beale moving forward.
It was a long time coming but it’s nice to see Raskin finally posing with that Light Blues shirt and it will be interesting to see just how quickly he can settle into life at Ibrox.
His versatility and ability to play in the number six or eight roles for Rangers is something Beale will in no doubt utilise to the fullest.
Beale has already handed one start to fellow January signing Todd Cantwell and this could mean that Raskin will be thrown into the deep end straight away too.
Let’s hope Raskin can hit the ground running.
