Richard Foster blown away by Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos after brace v Hearts

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is returning back to his old best, and he lifts the rest of the players around him, according to Richard Foster.

Morelos scored twice against Hearts on Wednesday (1 February) as the Bears earned a 3-0 win in the Scottish Premiership at Tynecastle.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer (2 February), the BBC Radio Scotland pundit suggests that it was probably Morelos’ best performance of the season, and he is a “huge” part of the way the club play under Michael Beale.

“He was sharp as he’s looked,” said Foster.

“There aren’t any coincidence with the fact that Rangers are at their best when Morelos has been at best in weeks and months.

“He is a huge part to the way they play. As well as being Rangers’ best performance, it was Morelos’ best performance – two of them go hand in hand.

“When he plays, he lifts the rest of the players around them.”

New contract?

This has been a great turnaround for the Colombian striker and Michael Beale deserves a lot of credit for this.

At the start of the season, Morelos was barely fit, and he was the second-choice striker behind Antonio Colak under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Colombian who has scored over 100 goals for the club is a club hero already, but he looks sluggish and out of shape. However, when Beale took charge, Morelos was given the chance to prove his worth, although the injury to Colak helped a bit.

With every game, Morelos found his confidence back, and goals have followed as a result. He is back among goals, and his movements have been fantastic.

What remains to be seen now is whether he will sign a new deal at Ibrox. He has a contract until the end of the season, and it’s unclear what the future holds for him.

However, his recent performances should encourage the club to offer him a lucrative long-term deal. Let’s hope, he maintains the same form for the rest of the season.
