Rangers and Celtic target Cho Gue-sung likely to be available for summer transfer

Rangers and Celtic’s January target Cho Gue-sung is reportedly likely to be available for summer transfer after opting to stay at Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

According to the Daily Record [3 February], the 25-year-old striker is expected to be on the move once the season ends.

He made a name for himself by scoring two goals at the World Cup for South Korea and even saw Bundesliga Mainz take note of him.

With each passing week, it seems even more likely that Alfredo Morelos will be on his way out in the summer, leaving for free.

Rangers could’ve looked to cash in on him in January but perhaps due to the lack of availability of a quality replacement, they did not sell him.

Sun journalist Alan Nixon wrote on Twitter that Rangers along with Celtic and other clubs were looking at the right price to sign Cho in January.

That never happened as he was being valued at £3million and none of the clubs quite felt that they wanted to pay that much to sign him.

Seeing that the market may cool for him in the summer, Jeonbuk are likely to accept a discounted price for the striker once the window opens.

This could be the perfect opportunity for Rangers to strike and sign him at a discounted fee to replace Alfredo Morelos.

In other Rangers news, the club were fancying their chances of major a January transfer after Fabrizio Romano’s update suggested that a move was on the cards.
