Finance Guru: Nothing is off limits as new AC/DC partnership will earn Rangers money
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...
Dan Plumley has insisted that nothing is off limits for clubs as partnerships can earn good money, as Rangers announced a new collection with AC/DC.
The finance guru admitted that fans can buy “crazy” things as long as their club’s badge is on there, with this the latest example to get people scratching their heads.
Plumley does not believe it will be a big money-spinner for the Bears, but it should attract a certain generation of fans with the specific branding.
“A really left-field example but it is proof that nothing is off limits from a marketing and merchandise point of view,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“If sometimes those kinds of crazy ideas will generate you a little bit of money through people buying that merchandise, so the power of the football club brand and obviously, the association with a very well-known rock band would appeal to a certain generation for sure, and there will be people who buy this, as much as people buy other crazy things that football clubs throw out there with their badge on.
“It won’t be a big money spinner, but again, just indicative of the fact that when you’ve got a football club as well known as Rangers which commands a big fan base, nothing is off-limits when it comes to sponsorship and merchandise point of view.”

It will take some time to see whether this is a success or not, but it certainly caught us all by surprise.
Rangers fans were not alone in poking fun at the collection either, so whether people like it or not, it certainly got everyone speaking about the club over the past week.
All eyes are on Ibrox, as usual.
