Barry Ferguson calls for Alfredo Morelos to find consistency at Rangers after starring v Hearts
Barry Ferguson has called for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos to back up his “unplayable” performance against Hearts with a consistent run of form under Michael Beale.
The Gers attacker was the centre of attention on Wednesday night (1 February), scoring twice on Tynecastle but, more notably, knee-sliding and raising a finger to his lips to silence the rude chants from the Hearts support.
As shared via Football Scotland (Friday 3 February), Ibrox legend Ferguson admitted he was equally amazed and frustrated at the Colombian forward, insisting Rangers fans hadn’t seen enough of this lightning form on a regular basis.

“But I’ll just look at the fact that, see that performance on Wednesday night?” he told Go Radio.
“I want to see that every single game from Morelos.
“That’s how he frustrates people, that’s how he annoys people, because he’s got that in his locker and that’s what you want him to bring to the party every single game.
“When he plays like that, I think he’s unplayable at times.”

Rampant
Morelos was at his destructive best on Wednesday night, and it’s performances like this that make you think the Gers should keep him on at the club beyond his current contract.
The 26-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and it is still unknown whether Beale and the club want to extend this further into the future.
El Bufalo is certainly a mercurial talent and has admittedly wound out the odd fan during his time in Glasgow, but this shouldn’t make him subject to abusive chants from crowds. Yes, he happily plays the pantomime villain, but some of the noise coming from the Hearts fans was uncalled for.
After netting twice and continuing Beale’s blemish-free record as Gers manager, the striker was quite right to silence the on-looking crowd by knee-sliding right in front of their stand. Beale may well want to keep the contract door open for Morelos in the coming months after such a performance.
