Neil McCann blasts Borna Barisic for what he did in Rangers win v Hearts

BBC pundit Neil McCann has blasted Rangers defender Borna Barisic after he was spotted kicking a ball into the Hearts stands during their clash on Wednesday.

The Blues claimed a dominant 3-0 win over Hearts to end their ten game unbeaten run, maintaining the nine-point gap between themselves and Celtic at the top of the table.

But the Croatian left-back was given stick by the home fans for much of the game and has been criticised by McCann for his actions, while the pundit was appearing on BBC Sportsound for the game.

“Then Barisic kicks the ball into the fans,” he said (1 February).

“I don’t know what was going on tonight. There was a little bit of an atmosphere between the fans and the Rangers players and they didn’t need to do that because they were streets ahead on the pitch.”

Got to take it

There’s no doubt that the fans were right on his case for the whole game, just like they were on Alfredo Morelos’ case all night too.

There was no real reason for it either other than the fact we were the opposing team, but that doesn’t give them some divine right to abuse the players and not expect something back.

Barisic didn’t do anything ridiculous or outrageous, he just simply gave them a little bit back when they’d been giving it to him all night.

We battered them on the pitch and the players put the fans in their place too with small digs like the Morelos celebration and the Barisic “incident” if you can even call it that.

The Croatian has established himself as the number one left back at the club since coming back from the World Cup and his performances have been excellent, so if he wants to give it back to the fans that are digging him then leave him be.

In other Rangers news, one pundit feels there is a “genuine chance” of a new deal for one star.
