Andy Little baffled by Garang Kuol ‘obvious’ yellow card in Rangers win v Hearts

Andy Little was left baffled by John Beaton’s decision not to book Garang Kuol in the first half of Hearts’ 3-0 defeat to Rangers.

The Australian flew into a first-half tackle on Borna Barisic, which left the Light Blues’ left back on the floor for a number of minutes.

However, the 18-year-old Newcastle United loanee wasn’t booked for the offence, a decision which left Little very “surprised”.

“That’s a very obvious candidate for the first booking of the game and I am surprised Garang Kuol has got away with that,” said the Ranger TV pundit (Rangers TV, 19:55, 1 February).

Superb performance

The win at Tynecastle was easily the most impressive performance to date under Michael Beale. The Light Blues were electric going forward and played some superb passing football at times. Malik Tillman, Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala linked up so well in the first half and Glen Kamara was back to his imperious best.

The Finland international’s display against Hearts was as good a display as we’ve seen from any Rangers player in the 2022/23 campaign. He made everything look so simple, didn’t lose possession, and knew exactly when to join an attack and when to stay back – he was simply magnificent.

Every single player performed well, and Beale will be delighted to have the likes of Todd Cantwell on the bench ready to make an impact. The former Norwich man made a 20-minute cameo in which he made life extremely difficult for Hearts’ tiring backline. On the whole, it was easily the Gers’ best night under the new boss.
