Andy Little slams Alfredo Morelos after ‘frustrating’ moment for Rangers in first half v Hearts

Andy Little slammed Alfredo Morelos for straying offside in the first half of the Rangers’ Scottish Premiership clash against Hearts.

The Colombian thought he had given the Light Blues an early lead at Tynecastle after excellent work from Fashion Sakala, however, he was clearly a yard offside.

Little was less than impressed with the 26-year-old, who put the Gers ahead with a header just moments later.

“Alfredo Morelos has got to do better. He’s comfortably a yard offside,” said the Rangers TV pundit (Rangers TV, 19:52, 1 February).

“We can tell even from this angle and it’s such a brilliant opportunity. He can see the line, he can see the centre half, it’s very straightforward and he’s got to be patient.

“It’s frustrating because he can see exactly the line he needs to take after really good play from Sakala.”

Poor moment

It was a poor moment from the Colombian. He’s been in good form of late and was probably just a little too eager to get on the end of Sakala’s ball. All he had to do was time his run and he would’ve put the Gers in front. Luckily for the 26-year-old, it wasn’t long until he put the Gers ahead with a routine header.

Morelos has been impressive under Michael Beale and it will be interesting to see if he signs a new deal before his contract comes to a close in the summer. He’s playing well and would continue to see plenty of minutes if he did renew his deal.

If the Colombian does depart in the summer it will be interesting to see where his next move takes him. He’s been at Rangers for a long time now and seems to get the fans and the club. From an outside perspective, deciding to join another club could well be a risk for Morelos.

However, with the potential of a signing-on fee and increased wages, it’s easy to see why the forward would be keen to move to pastures new.
