David Edgar shares update on speculation linking Rangers with Manchester City forward Cole Palmer
Rangers have not made any approach for Manchester City’s young striker Cole Palmer, according to David Edgar, the man behind Heart and Hand podcast.
The Sun reported on 31 January (live blog; 11:16) that the Bears have made a deadline-day approach to sign the City wonderkid on loan, but Pep Guardiola has blocked the potential switch.
The Gers’ official partner has rubbished the report suggesting that it hasn’t been the case, with no offers being tabled by the Glasgow giants.
“Despite reports on here, Rangers didn’t make an approach for Cole Palmer of Man City,” wrote Edgar for Heart and Hand Podcast.
One more addition?
Usually, you don’t expect too many signings in January, but this has been a different transfer window.
Michael Beale had inherited a decent squad, but he needed new faces to add more quality to his side.
So far, they have signed Todd Cantwell from Norwich City, and Nicolas Raskin will soon follow him before 11pm transfer deadline.
Could there be one more addition?
Beale ideally would love to sign a defender to his ranks, but time is a big factor here.
The Gers do have a strong defensive set-up, and it will get better with John Souttar set to return shortly.

However, the club still need to add one more quality defender, but probably that can wait until the summer.
Raskin is a highly talented young midfielder and he will add the much-needed flair and quality to the midfield that is largely pedestrian.
It was highly unlikely that Rangers would have signed another striker, especially with Alfredo Morelos set to stay put.
Beale has the likes of Morelos, Antonio Colak and Fashion Sakala as options between now and the end of the season, and they have enough depth in that region.
