Swansea were never going to let Morgan Whittaker join Rangers as Russell Martin stance emerges
Swansea were reportedly never going to let Morgan Whittaker join Rangers in the January transfer window despite efforts to get him signed.
According to Football Scotland [30 January], they’ve always wanted to retain the services of the 22-year-old as they look to catapult themselves up the table.
He was recalled from his loan spell at Plymouth as the Swans see him as a key player this season.

The report said, “Football Scotland understands the Swans have never been actively looking to sell their player and indeed hope to keep hold of the youngster as they look to catapult themselves up the table after a slow campaign so far.
“We understand the player was recalled from his loan stint at Plymouth so he could become a key player for his parent club amid a form dip.”
Summer move perhaps?
Michael Beale even went on record to talk about Whittaker so it’s clear that he wanted it known that he was in pursuit of his services.
It doesn’t seem like a short-term option so we will be really surprised if Gers do not return in the summer with a renewed bid to land him.
From the looks of it, the player himself is keen on a move and even told the club about it but unfortunately for him, a fee could not be agreed.

He will certainly play regular first-team minutes this season and will give Rangers a good chance to gauge his performances over the next few months.
However, this should not mean that they do not sign more players after they make the Nicolas Raskin deal official.
Another wide player is needed and they need to get that deal over the line on transfer deadline day if they want to salvage anything from this season.
In other Rangers news, the club are now fancying their chances of major a January transfer after Fabrizio Romano’s update with a move on the cards.
