Nicolas Raskin snubs Schalke, Wolfsburg and Stuttgart for Rangers transfer

Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin has snubbed Schalke and other German clubs in order to join Rangers ahead of the 31 January deadline.

According to former RMC journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Schalke 04, who have won the league 10 times in their history, were keen on signing the midfielder along with Wolfsburg and Stuttgart.

However, he refused their advances and picked Rangers who flew to Belgium to sell them their project for the future and the same journalist confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Liege over the transfer fee.

Via Twitter, Tavolieri wrote, “The German clubs interested were #Wolfsburg , #Schalke04 & le #VfbStuttgart but it was in the middle of #mercato and Nicolas #Raskin had already refused these offers, preferring the project of #RangersFC which was marked out by going to meet the midfielder #RSCL in Belgium.”

Good acquisition

Raskin has been on the club’s radar for a while and it’s good to see them finally getting him over the line.

Michael Beale has gone on record to say that a deal is close which means that it indeed is and we cannot wait to see him in action.

It’s been a while since Gers have shelled out decent money on signing a first-team midfielder and it’s good to see them showing ambition in January.

Rangers

Usually, the winter market is a tough one to get deals over the line, but they’ve shown some competence despite the delays in getting this done.

Hopefully, Morgan Whittaker also joins or Gers pull up another transfer target from out of the bag on deadline day.

It’s going to be an eventful 36 hours as the clock runs down and we’re hoping to see an official announcement being made on 30 January itself.

In other Rangers news, the club are now fancying their chances of major a January transfer after Fabrizio Romano’s update with a move on the cards.
