Nicolas Raskin flies to Glasgow to complete Rangers transfer on Monday

Nicolas Raskin is on his way to Glasgow to complete a deal with Rangers after a fee was agreed with Standard Liege, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The two clubs have been locked in talks for weeks over a deal for the Belgian youngster, and finally agreed a deal worth £1.75m plus a 20% sell-on clause to allow him to leave for Ibrox this month.

And with a deal now agreed, Raskin is currently jetting in to Glasgow on Monday morning before a deal is formalised in the next 24 hours.

“It’s done!” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (30 January).

“Agreement between Standard & Rangers FC at 2M€ (£1.75m) (bonus included) + 20% resale.

“Nicolas Raskin took off this Monday morning for Glasgow. 4.5 year contract signed last Saturday.

“Formalization of Rangers within 24 hours.”

Quick business

It’s been a long time since Rangers were able to get a deal done quickly, and this has been another in that line of deals that took a while to get over the line.

Thankfully for Rangers it shouldn’t matter too much to Michael Beale though, because he’s now got his man and is strengthening the squad.

Rangers

With a clash against Hearts to come in midweek, getting Raskin into Ibrox and training with the team as soon as possible is something that the manager will really want to do.

With the player flying into Glasgow, a deal should be confirmed quickly and now the club can turn their attention towards the protracted signing of Morgan Whittaker before Tuesday’s deadline.

Beale wants what he wants, and the board have finally delivered on it so fans can start to get excited now about what the young midfielder will deliver at Ibrox in the blue shirt.
