Chris Jack shares Rangers transfer news as Nicolas Raskin bid rejected again
Rangers have had a second improved bid for Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin rejected on Friday night (27 January), according to Chris Jack.
Gers boss Michael Beale has identified the 21-year-old as a key target this month after completing the signing of Norwich City playmaker Todd Cantwell.
Rangers initially tabled a six-figure bid for the Belgian midfielder [Daily Record, 26 January], which was rebuffed by Liege, with the Glasgow needing to come up with a “substantially better” offer to get their man.

And it seems that Ross Wilson obliged on Friday with a second improved bid which was still not deemed to match Liege’s valuation of the player.
Reporting for the Glasgow Times (Friday 27 January), Jack wrote: “The negotiations are still at an impasse, however, after Standard rebuffed a second approach from Rangers on Friday evening.
“The Belgian outfit – who are managed by former Celtic boss Ronny Deila – are standing firm as they attempt to get as high a fee as possible for a player that will walk away for free at the end of the campaign.”

Tick tock
Rangers seem to be just a couple of per cent away from completing their second transfer of the winter window, but their stubbornness not to match Liege’s valuation could prove their downfall.
Raskin is clearly a talented midfielder and one Beale has pinpointed, so why on earth are the Gers not offering the desired price tag that will finally get the deal over the line?
The Gers have reportedly already agreed on personal terms for the 21-year-old, with an agreement all that stands between the move being completed. [HLM, 20 January]
Fans are excited to see the prospect of Raskin in a Rangers jersey, but after being linked with a move to Ibrox for quite a while now, and the countdown well and truly on for the transfer window’s deadline day, they may now be a little worried.
The Gers midfield is in desperate need of fresh legs this month, and Raskin can provide them if the final pieces of paperwork are completed over the weekend.
In other Rangers news, a long-awaited return for one forgotten Bears ace has left the manager delighted ahead of St Johnstone.
