Rangers submit new £2m bid to sign Morgan Whittaker – Fabrizio Romano

Rangers have submitted a bid in the region of £2million for Swansea City attacker Morgan Whittaker, according to the Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano.

Romano had suggested (BetVictor, 25 January) that the Scottish giants were expected to return after seeing their initial bid for the 22-year-old rejected.

The Italian journalist has since revealed (via Twitter, 27 January) a second bid has arrived with Swansea now set to decide whether to part ways with the talented forward.

“Understand Rangers have returned with a new official bid for Morgan Whittaker. The proposal is in the region of £2m,” wrote Romano.

“It’s up to Swansea again after two bids already rejected for the talented winger.”

Ambtion

This has proven to be an impressive transfer window for the Gers and getting a move for Whittaker over the line would be the icing on the cake for Michael Beale.

The 22-year-old has been a priority for the new boss and it seems unlikely that Swansea will turn down the latest proposal from the Light Blues. £2million for a player who has just broken onto the scene is a lot of money and this is a big show of ambition and support from the board.

Rangers

If Swansea turn this bid down then it’s a big mistake from the Championship side. Whittaker clearly wants to leave the club and is keen to make the move north of the border. Furthermore, he’s a player Beale could develop and turn into an asset if he does move to Ibrox.

Rangers fans will be eagerly watching their phones to see if the Swans finally succumb to the latest bid for Whittaker.

In other Rangers news, one staff member is now set to exit next month with the departure already green-lit.
