Rangers must capitalise on Nicolas Raskin camp’s confidence and get transfer over the line

Nicolas Raskin’s representatives are reportedly confident that Rangers will be able to secure his services in the January transfer window.

According to Glasgow Evening Times journalist Chris Jack, the people in his camp are calm about the saga and it’s now about the clubs meeting on an acceptable transfer fee.

With him not signed in time to feature against St Johnstone, he should be brought in sooner rather than later and ready to make his debut against Hearts.

Speaking to Rangers Review, Jack said on 27 January, “World from people in his camp I know over last night is that they are calm about this situation. They’re confident that the deal will be done. Don’t think people should be too worried about it.

“Right now, it’s on track and it’s just the case of the clubs meeting in the middle.”

Jack’s update leaves hope that this deal will get done sooner rather than later and we’re hoping that to be the case.

Rangers have often left things until late and not ended up with their desired transfer targets so they would not want that to happen again.

However, with Raskin, there’s a good chance that other clubs come in for him and while he fancies a move to Ibrox, if he sees that they’re not paying what Liege want, he could go elsewhere.

Ross Wilson’s strategy clearly will be to pay as less as possible for a player who’s fallen out at the club and is soon to be out of contract.

At the end of the day, this does seem to be like a deal they’ll get over the line but there’s still a worry until it’s done.

Rangers do need someone to play in the defensive midfield role and he will be the ideal player they can sign in the January window.

In other Rangers news, the club are now fancying their chances of major a January transfer after Fabrizio Romano’s update with a move on the cards.
