Rangers make transfer bid for Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin

Rangers have reportedly made a bid to sign Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin in the January transfer window as Michael Beale eyes reinforcements.

According to HLN journalist Bob Faesen, negotiations are underway to get this deal over the line, but Gers remain some way apart in their valuation of the 21-year-old.

HLN [20 January, 18:29] claim that the Belgian wanted to leave the club and ply his trade in another country after falling out with the hierarchy at Liege.

Via Twitter, Faesen wrote, “The bids from Valladolid for Amallah and Rangers for Raskin are now in at
@Standard_RSCL. Negotiations are underway. Amallah is expected to make ends meet very soon. Rangers still have to jump a lot further.”

Another bid soon?

Rangers cannot come this close and not end up signing Raskin as he’s been someone on their radar for a while now.

He’s made it clear that he wants to leave and has agreed personal terms so it’s evident that a move to Ibrox is something he is open to.

They’ve signed Todd Cantwell already but it remains to be seen if they bring in another midfielder in Raskin.

The Belgian is versatile and can play as a deep-lying playmaker, a box-to-box midfielder and has even played in a more advanced attacking midfield role.

Beale will surely love his characteristics on the field of play and hopefully, he’s pushing Ross Wilson behind the scenes to get this one over the line.

There’s not long left in the window and there also is the risk of new clubs coming in for him so Gers need to act quickly.

In other Rangers news, the club are now fancying their chances of major a January transfer after Fabrizio Romano’s update with a move on the cards.
