Rangers transfers for Nicolas Raskin, Todd Cantwell and Morgan Whittaker inch closer as news emerges
Rangers continue to “inch closer” to completing deals for Todd Cantwell, Nicolas Raskin and Morgan Whittaker, with Michael Beale hopeful two can be done before Saturday’s clash against St Johnstone, according to the Daily Record.
The Gers are looking to strengthen in the January transfer window – Beale’s first at the helm – as their new manager looks to place his identity on the squad he inherited from Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
A deal for Norwich’s Cantwell is thought to be fully tied up [The 4th Official, 20 January], while Standard Liege midfielder Raskin has reportedly already passed his medical at Ibrox [Le Soir, 20 January].

Reports also suggest Swansea attacker Whittaker’s move is less progressed, but the Daily Record (January 23, page 37) still believes two of these three players could sign before this weekend’s Scottish Premiership clash (Saturday 28 January).
The report said: “Beale hopes he’ll have a couple of new signings on board by the time he welcomes Saints back to Glasgow as moves for Todd Cantwell, Morgan Whittaker and Nicolas Raskin inch closer.”

Exciting
The news of three young, exciting players nearing a move to Ibrox will leave chins wagging among supporters at Ibrox. There is a real pattern within the personnel Beale is targeting this January as he looks to add fresh legs to his often criticised ageing squad.
Raskin and Cantwell, in particular, will add a dynamism that the Gers’ midfield has lacked this term, with the likes of Steven Davis and Scott Arfield still propping up their younger counterparts.
If the club can complete a couple of these signings early this week, they will be sure to receive a rapturous reception at Ibrox at the weekend in another must-win game in Rangers’ ever-dwindling title chances.
The triple transfer news will give Gers fans hope that the club can still pick up some silverware this once written-off season, with a crunch Viably Cup Final against Celtic awaiting them in February (Sunday 26 February).
